Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. When you contact us, we receive the contents of the message and use them to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting services create ordinary logs such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We review aggregate patterns to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where applicable.
What We Do With This Data
We use this data to operate the service, resolve problems, measure traffic, and improve the reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Websites
Links lead to county and state record portals, library collections, archives, and outside search services. The policy of the destination service governs information submitted there. This includes sponsored search results supplied by another company.
Who Might See Your Data
Service providers that host or support the site may process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners can receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Data Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes stated above. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or personal profiles maintained by this service.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if a minor may have sent information so it can be removed.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data a service holds. Research found no single statewide Michigan consumer-privacy or deletion statute with a general right of that kind. Michigan Freedom of Information Act, 1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to nonexempt public records held by public bodies, not a removal right from their records. Because we retain very little, we can check the contact mailbox and applicable logs, then remove information found there. Use the Contact page to ask. Requests about public records belong with the relevant custodian.
Policy Changes
Any revision to this policy will appear here. Continued use after a revision means acceptance of the updated policy.
